Doubt
Tempts us to question God’s Word and his goodness, forgiveness, and love.

Discouragement
Tempts us to focus intently on our problems rather than entrusting them to God’s care.

Diversion

I read this every few months to remind myself.  I wish I knew exactly where it came from.  It sounds like C.S. Lewis and the Screwtape Letters, but I haven’t been able to determine its source for sure…

Satan called a worldwide convention.  In his opening address to his demons he said:

“We can’t keep Christians from going to church.  We can’t keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth.  We can’t even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with Christ.  We can’t stop them from going to their churches, and trying to lead good lives, but we can interfere with their lives, making it difficult to have a relationship with Jesus.  This is what I want you to do.  Distract them from connecting with their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day.”
